The family stopped for dinner after trying to catch a movie and it being sold out. I was with my brother, sister and a few friends and we had a blast just enjoying the city and walking around. We took our appetizing frustrations out on the spicy entrees from Breeze. The food here is really good and flavorful. The decor is also very homely and the menus are whimsical, packaged in CD style cases and the list of items presented as track listings. The audio CD-like slide out contains the drinks list, which makes it all the more presentable.

Everyone had variations of different fried rice entrees, from chicken to beef to shrimp. I had the five spice chicken and another friend had a different chicken entree, of which I can’t quite remember the name. They were all good, but the portions weren’t ample enough and left some of the crew starving. I knew what to expect so I wasn’t that disappointed, but the others were a bit peeved. Although they heaped praises upon how great it tasted, they wished it was a bit more to the portion. The prices were reasonable and the drinks were great as well, as well all ordered Pineapple juice!

Overall it was a great night and I’ll definitely be back to Breeze again. They’re one of out ofa handful of places that can make food spicy enough for me. Til next time!

Took a trip to the little walk-in outpost of my favorite Dessert place in the city, Chikalicious. The fancy, 3-course dessert pairing extravaganza also has a walk-in outpost with few seating options but a wonderful array of options for great desserts. This is the one to go to if you crave some amazing cheesecake or ice cream on theh go and don’t want to splurge on just desserts on a nice sunny day. My full review of the dine-in establishment, which is directly across the street, will be up at a later date, but until then enjoy these scrumptious pictures, because I did! We went with the Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream and the Cookies and Cream Ice Cream, both incredibly scrumptious. As the weather gets nice, I highly recommend a trip to this dessert haven.

Kittichai is one of those foodie destinations that I would recommend. The place is gorgeous and food is great. It is also located behind foliage, which makes it even more of a must-visit destination. I went there for lunch so that’s the menu I shall be speaking on here.

Let’s start with the decor. The place has a prestine buddha like atmosphere to it and it is so welcoming that once you settle in, you might not want to leave. They have plush chairs and pillows which makes it worse if you just go there for food at lunch and have to return back to your rigid work chairs. It also has a serene pond in the middle of the restaurant, with huge floating leaves and candles in it. It is a great addition to an already great design and I loved it. There are also buddha structures all over the place and a birdcage with a bird in it at the entrance.

It is asian so you know spice is the name of the game and to this end, they get it right. I had the Chiang Mai Chicken Curry Noodles with pickled mustard greens and my friend had the Shrimp Fried Rice with green mango, jasmine rice crackers, sunny side egg. Mine was good, but I preferred her fried rice, which was topped with egg and was really good. They were both seasoned just right and a bit spicy as they should be.

The drinks were fantastic. I don’t quite remember the names of them but I liked them a whole lot.

The waiter was friendly and attentive but it was pretty empty on the afternoon that we were there so I don’t know if that is applicable around the clock or everyday. That being said, they did good and I would recommend this place to anyone celebrating an occassion or one who lives or work by Thompson street to stop in for a bite, you won’t regret it.

Tooth killers. That’s what I call places like Sugar and Plumm and Dylan’s Candy Bar. They’re dessert havens where if you go, you’re going to be indulging in treats not good for your teeth or your diet, but that’s exactly why I love these places. They don’t pretend to be anything else but letting you live out your childhood fantasies of living in a candy or ice cream shop and Sugar and Plumm does a wonderful at this. The place is like a purple wonderland with the color all over the tablecloths and pillars. There’s also a huge mural on the wall that just brings the vision of the establishment to life.

Sugar and Plumm has a food menu with many American staples such as chicken and waffles and pasta, but that’s not what anyone goes to a place like this for, as they can be had anywhere. The desserts are the stars here and boy do they shine. They are reasonably priced, around $10 on average and they’re huge. I mean I’m talking about goblets full of ice cream, fruits and chocolates huge. I got the classic Sugar and Plumm Ice Cream Sundae and she got the Brownie a La Mode. Mine was obviously much bigger and it took as over 30 minutes to finish them but they were all well worth it.

Just look at the pictures below and see why you have to visit this place. Your inner child will thank you. I’m already planning my next trip!

Asian Food. Thai. Chinese. Vietnamese. I love all of it and Grand Sichuan is no different. With plenty of locations in New York City, it’s a great destination for good food and good prices. I’m privy to the one on 7th Avenue in the village so that’s the one I’m reviewing here. Take the 1 to Houston st. and walk right over. The place is standard restaurant fair when it comes to the decor, but there was a striking painting on the wall that caught my attention, which you can see below. It’s in a dining table setting and I liked the caricatures.

On to what you came here for, which is the food. It’s good. Really good. And spicy. If you’re not into spice, I advise you to not order anything from the spicy side of things, which is indicated by red chili peppers on the menu. I had the Kung Bao chicken, which was well seasoned and plenty. They come in various sizes depending on how much food you want but the regular size, not the big one was enough for me. My coworkers had the rest of the food posted here, which I can’t really remember the name of one at the moment but the other was Shrimp Pad Tai and they all said they enjoyed it. The spring roll was huge by the way and not oily at all, like what you would get from other restaurants.

The waiters were friendly enough and pretty knowledgeable about the menu and their job. The bill was cheap in the end and the food was great, so we’re definitely planning on going back. Hopefully I’ll try something else but that kung bao chicken was so good that I might just stick with that!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Slide is a charming new restaurant that opened up recently in the West Village on Bleecker Street. The food can easily be mistaken for a burger joint such as Shake Shack or the aptly named Da Burger Joint, but it is anything but when it comes to decor and service.

The space is unassuming, and similar to any other restaurant you’ll see on the Bleecker Street strip. It is when you enter that you realize just how different it is from the lot. The chairs in the main dining hall are lined up against the wall, adjacent to the bar area. Then as you proceed in, there are al fresco tables at the end…before you reach the open air outdooring seating garden. I would recommend the outdoor seating if the weather is nice enough because it is gorgeous. There’s a waterfall against the wall, with stone blocks all over and a sculpture tucked inside one of the stones. When it is a bit cool, I believe they can close the open air outdoor area and as the night went out, they brought out lanterns. I’m sure they have designed it for year-round seating, as opposed to just the nice weather days.

The food here is good. Like really good. They are also really cute, as they come in little sliders that are dressed nice and placed on wooden slabs. They come medium well, and you can request them to be well done, and you have your requisite choices of chicken, turkey and beef sliders. They can also come in buns or waffles, which were my favorite! I thought they could have been a bit more seasoned but they were still very good. I plan on going back VERY soon and I suggest you do as well. Enjoy!

Salt and Pepper. That’s what this charming little french bistro in Midtown on 65th and Lex. It is the quintessential french bistro, with its white table decors and open air seating. The decor is very homely and welcoming. I stopped by there for brunch and I was pleasantly impressed with the reasonably priced menu as well as the selections.

We went with the crab cake, which came with a tangy sauce and a side of greens. It was pretty good but could’ve been better portioned for the price. The omelet however, was the completely opposite, although just as good. It was well portioned and came with a side of fries, which was well seasoned and plentiful.

I was a bit turned off by the service of the waiters, which affected how much tip I gave them. I had a dying battery, which I politely asked them to charge for me as I ate when I noticed a charger by the maitre d’. They obliged but it was not charging, and I asked someone else to check to see if it was charging. They came back and told me yes. When I got my phone back later on in the day, it was almost dead as it still had not charged. I then asked another waiter to recharge it for me with a charger I had on hand, she took it, brought my charger back and told me the old one was working now, and long story short, by the time I left there my phone was dead as it didn’t charge at all. This was all coupled with them taking a long time to bring our bill.

I would recommend Sel et Poivre regardless of my personal experience as not all waiters are the same and the place is still a charming little hold up. I don’t know how their dinner or lunch menus are but if they are anything like the brunch menu, I have no doubt you’ll be as equally impressed. Until next time, Adieu!

Let’s get this out of the way, there’s no better restaurant with a better novelty than The View. The appropriately named restaurant is quite possibly the title holder for the best dining view in all of New York State. And by view I mean VIEWS, dozens of them, as the dining room rotates 360 degrees, perched atop the Marriott Hotel in Times Square. The floor rotates as you eat and it gives you a plethora of views of different monuments, buildings and and landscapes of the New York skyline. These include the GE Building, The Port Authority, The Intrepid Air and Space Musuem, Columbia University, even parts of New Jersey and a lot more. Below is a picture of all the views it offers you.

The views it offers isn’t the only experience you will have on your journey to The View. The elevator system requires you to take 3 different elevators just to get to the restaurant that’s about 45 stores up. Be careful though because it is a bit convoluted and it takes some getting used to before you reach your destination. Here’s a view of the your ride up the final elevator, which is dedicated specifically to The View. It’s a fun ride up but not for those who are afraid of heights.

Now on to the food. You’re here to eat but you’re really paying for the experience. The food is ok, not great, but the desserts are pretty delicious. Below are pictures of what we ordered: The Jumbo Shrimp and the Pasta Carbonera as appetizers, the Braised Lamb with rice and the Sirloin Steak with potatoes and greens as the main courses, and the cheesecake and ice cream as desserts.

The waiters were ok, not great as the drinks, which were just water, took a while just to be refilled. Here’s more pictures of the food and the views you get. It’s a great place for a romantic dinner, a marriage proposal, a special occasion or if you’re trying to impress someone from out of town. I highly recommended it for the experience alone, but the same can’t be said for the food, which is just alright. Have a day as wonderful as you are everyone!

I stopped by the Hurricane Club recently and it is like my favorite new restaurant in all of New York City. Ok, not exactly there but close. For starters, it is like a private club when you enter, with huge brass doors as if you’re about to enter into a royal mansion. Once inside, you’re again met by a huge chandelier that looks like a royal palace transplant as well. There’s where the bar is. Then as you’re led to your table, you notice that every booth seems to resemble a private booth, curved so as to cordon you off other patrons.

The menu is pretty standard, but the food isn’t and neither is the presentation. The centerpiece of every meal here has to be the Watermelon, which is a real watermelon filled with watermelon juice and spirits, along with a plethora of straws and for your entire group. Not being a drinker, I was kind of bummed out because it looked so cool and I wanted to try it but I’m including a picture for you here.

What I DID get to try was the food and it was amazing. I had the lobster noodles and my friend had shrimp rolls. The noodles were spicy and comes straight from a Chinatown restaurant so it was great and authentic. They came in a rustic hollow bowl and the presentation was fitting for the setting. The rolls were huge and tasted really good as well, with coconut seasoning. The meals are served group sized for sharing, although a really hungry person or someone who just loves food could finish it by myself. I, however, couldn’t so I took some home.

When we finished we decided to get dessert, and to our surprise, the waiter told us that they were trying out several new cupcakes and wanted our feedback. He brought out three cupcakes. Now I don’t remember their names but the one I had was great. It was a pineapple flavor. The person I went with swore theirs was better, but I didn’t taste it and I just know mine was much better. the last one, which was the chocolate, I brought home and saved it for my best friend Cliff, who’s a chocolate fiend. He devoured it quickly when he got his hands on it so I’m guessing he liked it.

The Hurricane Club is one of those places that you go for special occasions or when you want to show off the grandeur of New York City dining. It does the job, and does it well, with great food and service. I’ll definitely be going back and hopefully you’re tagging along! Adieu, until next time guys!
